Pigtail Kokeshi

Kokeshi dolls likely appeared during the late Edo Era. It is thought these were the first toys for the children who lived in the Tohuko region north of Tokyo. Kokeshi appealed to travelers and quickly grew popular as souvenirs. Today kokeshi are a celebrated traditional folk art in Japan and one of the most widely collected. This kokeshi features a hand-painted face and is imported from Japan. She comes in a box ready to give or receive.
