During the late Edo period (1600-1867), kokeshi dolls were likely a child's first toy. Originating in the Tohuko region north of Tokyo, kokeshi appealed to travelers and quickly grew popular as souvenirs. Today, kokeshi are widely collected as a celebrated traditional folk art in Japan.

This hand-painted kokeshi is carved to depict a brave samurai, complete with the top-knot of the warrior. Imported from Japan and comes in a box ready to give as the perfect gift.
